Bruce E. Bowers


Bruce Bowers Bruce helped found Massey, Bowers & Hembree in 2001 after serving as a senior advisor to the transition team of Governor Sonny Perdue. Prior to serving on the transition team Bruce was the managing attorney for the Atlanta office of Balch & Bingham, a Birmingham based law firm with over 250 lawyers in offices across the Southeast.

From 1996 to 2001, Bruce served in several executive roles with Beaulieu of America, Inc., the world’s largest family-owned carpet manufacturer, with revenues of $2 billion. Bruce joined the company in 1996 as General Counsel. In addition to managing the legal matters of the company and its family-owners, Bruce was responsible for managing other family investments, including their extensive real estate holdings.

Adding to his duties as General Counsel, in 1999, Bruce was named Executive Vice President, Administration. In this position, Bruce was responsible for Beaulieu's human resources department which managed the company's 12,500 employees located in 12 countries and 50 states. Bruce was also responsible for managing the company's benefits planning, risk management, compliance, safety, training and public affairs departments.

Bruce graduated with highest honors from the University of Georgia in 1987, where he earned a B.S. in political science. He received a J.D. in 1991 from Emory University where he was the King & Spalding Fellow.

Upon graduation from law school, Bruce practiced with the Atlanta firm of Long, Aldridge & Norman where he specialized in mergers and acquisitions, securities and other transactional matters. In 1994, Bruce joined the Atlanta office of Stephens Inc., a privately-held investment banking firm where he was an investment banker specializing in public finance and securities matters. Bruce and his wife, Deena, have two children and reside in Marietta, Georgia.
