About Us
Our firm was formed in January 2003 by former Georgia
Attorney General Michael J. Bowers; John K. Watson,
Governor Perdue’s General Campaign Consultant and
Vice Chairman of the Perdue Transition Team, and
Bruce E. Bowers, who served as a senior advisor on the
Perdue Transition Team. In December 2003,
Lewis A. Massey, former Georgia Secretary of State,
joined the firm. One month later, John Watson left the firm
to begin serving as Chief of Staff to Governor Sonny Perdue.
Rob Simms joined the firm in February 2004 and left in
December 2006 to serve as the Deputy Secretary of State in
Georgia. Brandon Hembree joined our team in November
2004, and Lynn Thurman joined us in May 2006. Both worked
in Georgia state government previously.
The combined experience of Massey & Bowers’ partners
allows the company to approach issues in a bipartisan
manner, effectively representing their clients in a rapidly
